Become a Friend of the Inn & volunteer

Show your passion and love of the Inn by joining the Friends of the Hike Inn Membership and Volunteer Program.

Winston Churchill said, “We make a living by what we do. But we make a life by what we give.” In fact, we believe it so strongly it’s imprinted on the back of our volunteer’s t-shirts.

As an official Friend of the Hike Inn, you receive a 20% discount on all merchandise, as well as gain the privilege of volunteering at the Inn.

Donate money

The Hike Inn is non-profit and although it is owned by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and is part of the state park system, the Inn receives no state funding.

The Inn relies solely on room and merchandise revenue to stay in business, so donations to the Inn are greatly appreciated and tax deductible.

You can also specifically donate to help fund our Outside School. Your gift will help us reach out to more of Georgia’s youth and support our stewards of tomorrow.

Talk at one of our evening programs

Are you an expert in some aspect of natural wildlife or natural resource conservation? Have you been on especially memorable outdoor adventures in Georgia and want to share the photos and experience of your journey?

The Inn has nightly programs year-round and is always looking for accomplished presenters with stories that may interest, entertain or educate our guests. It’s another way to participate, volunteer and be part of the Hike Inn family.

Trail Maintenance with GATC

“A trail is as serviceable as its poorest links.” ~ Benton MacKaye

Participating in the Georgia Appalachian Trail Club (GATC) allows you to combine passion, recreation, and stewardship. Overseers make regular trips (726 volunteer hours on the Hike Inn trail in 2016) to their section to maintain water diversion structures, cut weeds and intruding plant growth, paint blazes, and remove any obstructions on the trail.
